Family calendar

Important dates, right on their phone.

Add doctor appointments, family visits and deadlines once. Their phone reminds them at the time you choose, and they can ask Mimi Care out loud what's coming up. No calendar app to learn.

What it does

Reminders that reach them, without a new app to learn.

You add it once. Their phone reminds them at the time. If they share their calendar with you, you see the same schedule.

  • Doctor appointments.

Add the time and where it is, and choose when they're reminded: at the time, or up to a day before.

  • Family visits and birthdays.

A visit on Saturday, a granddaughter's birthday on Tuesday: add it once and it's on their calendar.

  • Deadlines that matter.

Prescription refills, Medicare open enrollment, property tax: anything you add becomes a reminder on their phone, in your words.

How it works

Three steps.

Add events on the website or in the Mimi Care app. They're reminded on their phone.

  1. 1

    You add the event.

Open their page, choose Calendar, then Add. Type what Mimi Care should say, pick the day and time, and whether it repeats.

  2. 2

A reminder at the time you chose.

Their phone reminds them at the time you picked: at the time, or up to a day before.

  3. 3

    Ask for the schedule anytime.

"What's on my calendar today?" "What do I have tomorrow?" Mimi Care answers out loud, for today and the next six days.

Why it matters

A shared calendar the older adult actually uses.

Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook: calendar apps are built for people who grew up with calendar apps. For someone who didn't, they're easy to miss. The appointment goes on the calendar, and the person whose appointment it is never sees it.

Mimi Care doesn't ask them to learn a calendar. The phone they already carry reminds them at the right moment, and answers when they ask what's coming up.

And because you add events in the same place, you see the schedule they see while they share their reminders and calendar with you. Fewer "Mom, did you know your appointment was yesterday?" conversations.

Common questions.

Can they add their own events?

Yes. They can say "Remind me to call my sister tomorrow at 3." Mimi Care shows a card with what was heard, and nothing is saved until they say it's right. If they share their reminders and calendar with you, it shows on their page for you too.

Does it sync with Google Calendar or Apple Calendar?

No. Events live in Mimi Care. You add them on their page, on the website or in the app.

What about appointments a doctor's office emails us?

You can forward them. Each person can have their own Mimi Care email address: turn it on from their page and approve who can send to it, up to 5 people. Forward the calendar invite, or write a plain sentence like "Remind Mom to take her pill every morning at 8," and Mimi Care adds it to their calendar or reminders. Each email uses one help, and one that looks like a scam is never added.

Will I know if they miss a reminder?

You can. If you have missed-reminder alerts on and they share their reminders with you, every phone signed in to your account is told when a reminder isn't marked done. If they do it later, the alert changes to "Done late."

What if they travel?

Reminders follow their local clock. If they travel to another time zone in the United States, Mimi Care notices and asks whether to move their reminders to the new local time. Nothing changes until they say yes.

Help them stay independent.
